Hicksville is a hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, New York. The community is served by the Hicksville Public Schools. Valentine Hicks purchased land in the area in 1834 and in 1837 built a Long Island Rail Road station on the site. Valentine Hicks eventual became the president of the Long Island Rail Road and the Hicksville Station is today one of the most heavily trafficked. The area became a produce depot for a while and following World War II, the New York City suburb experienced a wave of development.
